Prophet Muhammad PBUH (Sahih al-Bukhari 1196, Sahih Muslim 1390)

It is recommended that if you visit here make sure to recite Quranic verses and ask for forgiveness as the Almighty listens closely in Rawdah. Families who are travelling to the sacred land for Umrah performance must make their ziyarat to Rawdah where spending a few minutes can turn your life into peace. When you step into the sacred boundaries of Rawdah and acknowledge the spirituality and calm by just standing here. Here you are standing within a space where the Prophet PBUH himself described that “a garden from the gardens of paradise” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1196). Here are few recommendations that must be followed,
- Pray two Rak’ahs or Nafl here behind one of the sacred pillars that is positioned behind Ustuwaanat Aisha (the Pillar of Aisha) where she once claimed that “If people knew the virtue of praying at this spot, they would cast lots for it”. This pillar stands where the PBUH’s private chamber once lasted.
- Make countless Duas, as the Rawdah is renowned as the area where Salah and sincerely asked supplications are quickly accepted.
- Seek for forgiveness near the Ustuwanah al-Tawbah which is also known as the Pillar of Repentance, it is the spot where PBUH is said to have accepted the sincere repentance of three companions after the Battle of Tabuk.
- This spot is ideal for Tawbah, so if you visit here make sure to ask forgiveness for your past misdeeds and step out with hope and mercy.
- Offer prayer and send sincere Salawat upon the Last Prophet PBUH Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad (O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad).
Experiencing closeness by standing in Rawdah makes your sacred visit to the Holy land even more blessed.
Benefits of Prayer (Nafl)
Offering Nafl prayers beyond the compulsory Salah means building a closer connection with the Almighty ALLah SWT. This reflects over a meaningful devotion that a believer performs to get closer to the Creator in order to seek affection, forgiveness, and mercy. Offering Nafl is an act that was performed by the Holy Prophet PBUH regularly even when he was traveling. He even encouraged his Ummah to perform these prayers by saying
“The first thing a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment is Salah. If it is sound, the rest of his deeds will be sound”(al-Tabarani).
So offering Nafl and obligatory prayers especially when Allah SWT gives you the chance to offer it in the most sacred places like Rawdah or Masjid-e-Nabawi, it multiplies their virtue and the time of acceptance fastens.
Best Times to Visit the Rawdah
Timing is an essential thing to value when it comes towards your religious performances, as it can shape your visit to the Rawdah in a more comfortable way. Due to the limited capacity it is said that only a few worshippers at a time can gather there. For which wise planning is recommended especially if travelling with elderly pilgrims so that they don’t have to experience long queues and maintain khusyu’ (focus) in the religious spot.
For men the quietest window to offer their sacred Duas are typically late at night after Isha Salah or you can also visit early in the morning during Fajr hours. It is the time when the mosque is less crowded and you can experience peace.
While for women performers it is suggested to visit during mid morning hours or after the Asar prayer when the group tours have vanished and family performers are often resting.
